Counsellor, Coach and Developmental Therapist
Kirk Fisher
Kirk is a psychotherapist, educator, and coach. He draws on a broad range of experience and practice in his work. This includes psychology, education, groupwork and coaching, as well as meditation.
Kirk has a strong foundation in counselling theory and techniques. He approaches each client and each session with curiosity and flexibility. Kirk’s counselling clients often comment on his warm, calm presence, and his gentle humour.
Kirk also has a long history teaching and working with schools. Collaborating with parents and teachers, he co-founded and directed two innovative schools. These schools offered options for children who didn’t “fit the mould”. These schools were considered outliers at the time. Now, however, they fit with current good practice in pedagogy. Later, Kirk became a consultant in education. He and his team helped schools find ways to focus on learning. He is a strong proponent of play therapy, storytelling, and engaging the child in the context of their family.

Kirk also worked for many years as a coach and group facilitator, and as a trainer of coaches and facilitators. He was director of learning for two national organisations. He led talented and diverse faculty teams in each.
Finally, Kirk is life-long meditator. He speaks and teaches regularly on the junction of stories, poetry, and contemplative psychology. Some clients have come to him to explore purpose, meaning, or existential questions.
