Andrea Cochrane

Andrea is a dedicated and compassionate individual who embodies this life motto. With a warm and approachable demeanour, she has found their true calling in working with children and adolescents, making a profound impact on their lives. In their role as a Student Wellbeing Leader, she goes above and beyond by not only supporting students within the school but also prioritising the creation of a strong partnership between school and home, recognizing the importance of a united front in nurturing the future generation.

Andrea is a relatable and empathetic individual who excels in the art of active listening. She seeks to understand situations from various perspectives, offering support where it's needed most. She firmly believes that every meaningful relationship begins with the establishment of trust, taking the time to know the person on a deeper level.

With a background in education and psychology, Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their role. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychological Science from La Trobe University, graduating with Honors. Additionally, she has earned a Masters degree in Primary Teaching from the Australian Catholic University.

Outside of their professional life, Andrea finds solace and joy in spending time with their family. Their favourite activities during school holidays include camping adventures and delving into the pages of a good book.

Andrea's commitment to mental health and wellbeing is unwavering. She firmly believes that mental health lies at the core of what defines us as individuals. Recognizing the intricate interplay between physical and mental health, she understands that these aspects are inseparable, with a profound, bidirectional relationship. she appreciates that good mental health is more than just the absence of symptoms; it's about the ability to competently manage life's challenges, experience satisfaction and pleasure in everyday life, and be productive.

Currently, Andrea is pursuing a Masters degree in Counselling at the University of Canberra. Their academic journey is complemented by a strong desire to gain practical experience, and she eagerly anticipates working with clients at Acua, knowing that it will be instrumental in their growth as a counsellor.

Andrea's journey is one of purpose and dedication, making a meaningful impact on the lives of those she encounters, and embodying the belief that lifting others up is the path to personal and collective elevation.
