Coach, Developmental and Play Therapist
Alison Owen
Alison is a dedicated and experienced professional with a rich history in early childhood education and a more recent specialisation in play therapy. Her career began in Victoria, where she spent several years working in child care and early learning settings. During this time, Alison held various roles, including educator, education leader, and centre director, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the developmental needs of young children and the complexities of early learning environments.
Driven by a desire to provide more direct therapeutic support to children, Alison pursued and achieved her play therapy certification. This qualification has allowed her to transition into a therapeutic role, where she now focuses on offering family, parent, and paediatric therapy. Alison's therapeutic practice is characterised by a holistic approach, addressing a range of childhood developmental and behavioural needs. Her specialisations include cognitive development therapy, behaviour therapy, and speech therapy (voice production).

Alison is passionate about creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall well-being. She is known for her ability to connect with children on their level, using play as a primary tool for communication and healing. She believes that play is a child's natural language and a powerful medium for addressing emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.

One of Alison's key strengths is her commitment to meeting challenges head-on. She thrives on the complexity of each case and is dedicated to facilitating growth and positive change in her clients. Alison finds immense satisfaction in witnessing her clients develop a stronger sense of self and improved relationships with others. This dedication often leads to successful outcomes, with clients graduating therapy feeling empowered and equipped with valuable life skills.
